Creating Records

Oftentimes in eMaint, there are various ways and places to accomplish the tasks you need to accomplish. When creating new records in X5, there are a few options to complete this task depending on how you are viewing your current records.

Creating new records from the Entity Detail page

Inside of every entity - whether you are in the Table View, Card View or Tree View (Asset entity only) - has a New button in the upper right corner of the screen. . This button allows you to add a new record directly from the view you have selected.

    - Table View

    - Card View

    - Tree View (available in the Asset Entity only)

    - Creating a new record via Copy/Add

You also have the ability to copy/add a new record through an existing Asset record. This is useful when you are creating a new Asset record that is similar to an existing record already in your system. You will still need to input the unique identifying information like a Serial Number or VIN Number for the new Asset if that is a requirement on your asset form.

Important Information - Currently, this does not copy over the related entity information. Once you copy/add your new record, you will need to fill this information out separately.

    - Importing data to create new records

Another method of creating records in the system is through importing data. If there is a need to create many records in a particular entity, the Data Import Tool can be utilized. The Data Import Tool can be found through the Main Menu by going to Administration, and then clicking “Import Data”. Information on how to use this feature can be found by searching for the Data Import Tool document. You can find a very detailed document coving Data Imports in X5 Here.
