How Do I Create a New Form

    Creating new forms

If you ever run into a situation where you want separate forms for each type of asset records, creating a new form is a good option.  There are two ways to create a new form.

    • Create new form - Creates a new form with no fields on it.

    • Copy form - Creates a form with pre-existing fields.

    Creating a brand new form

    • To create a new form, go to the navigation page and under the administration section, choose, “Manage Forms.”

    • After clicking on manage forms, select add new record.

    • Unique ID: Keyfield for the new form.

    • Form Table: The table you are creating a new form for.

    • Form ID: The name of the new form.

    • Description: Brief description of the type of form.

    • Mbr_col:

After entering the information, select “Save New Record” to create the new form.

    Copying an existing form

    • To copy an existing form, select the form on the Manage Forms page that you want to copy.

    • On the form record, go to the Add button and select “Copy/Add

    • From here, Select a new Form ID and Description and then “Save New Record."

    • With the new record saved, you can check out new form by going to the table and selecting Options/Change Form on any record.

    Importing on a form

After creating a form, the default form will still be applied to all assets.  We can do a mass change to what form an asset uses by doing an import.

    • When importing an asset, add cx3formid to one of the columns on the excel sheet.

    • Name this field the Form ID we created (Example: TRUCK)

    • Import the form ID with the matching asset ID to the Asset table.  More information on doing an import is located in the link below.

    • After importing, my asset TRUCK1 now is defaulted to the TRUCK form.
